Reading eBooks

There are three ways to read eBooks:

  1. Read in your browser
  2. Download to your laptop or tablet
  3. Print one or more pages

In most instances, you will be prompted to log in using your ULID username and password before the eBook is displayed, whether or not you are on or off campus.

The steps to download or print an eBook are dependent on the publisher's website. Consult our eBook Guide for specific information about each format.

Findng Books Outside Milner

When looking for books, it is always advisable to start with a search in the Milner Library Catalog. Using the drop down menu at the side of the search box, you can limit your search to Milner only, or select all I-Share Libraries. The latter option will return results that may not be available locally but that can be requested using the I-Share system. Under the "How to get it" section of any record the location of other holding institutions in Illinois will be displayed. You must be logged in with your ULID in order to request resources.

If Milner does not have a book, or if our copy is checked out, try these additional catalogs:

  • Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) -- Our affiliation with I-Share entitles ISU patrons to borrow books from any member library. These requests can be made for pickup at Milner or by using your Redbird Card to check out books in person at member libraries.
  • WorldCat -- Contains over 36 million records of material cataloged by OCLC member libraries anywhere in the world. Features a direct link to Milner's Interlibrary Loan (look for the "Request item from ILL" link) to request items we do not own.
