EndNote Online: Account Login / Setup

EndNote Online is a web-based program that allows you to organize your sources (articles, books, images, etc.), cite the sources while you write a paper, and prepare bibliographies.

Managing Your Account / Profile

Logging into your Account

Log in anywhere into EndNote Online at http://myendnoteweb.com/

Creating an Account - On Campus

  1. From a computer on campus or connected to the campus wireless network, access EndNote Online at http://myendnoteweb.com/
  2. Click the 'Sign Up' link to create your account
  3. Complete the required fields and check 'I Agree to the service agreement'
  4. Once your account is created, go directly to http://myendnoteweb.com/ to manage your records, build bibliographies, etc.

Creating an Account - Off Campus

  1. Go to the Web of Science/Web of Knowledge database via Milner's web site
  2. When prompted, log in with your ISU ULID username and password
  3. At the top of the page, click the My EndNote Online link
  4. If prompted, accept the security exception certificate
  5. Click the Register link
  6. Complete the required fields and check 'I Agree to the service agreement'
  7. Once your account is created, go directly to http://myendnoteweb.com/ to manage your records, build bibliographies, etc.

As with most online accounts, you can change and modify your profile and account information.

Changing Your Password

  1. Click the Options tab
  2. Type your password in the Current Password field
  3. Type your new password in both the New password and the Confirm password fields
  4. Click the Save button

Changing Your E-Mail Address

  1. From the Options tab, click the Change E-mail Address link
  2. Type your password in the Password field
  3. Type your new e-mail address in the New e-mail address and Confirm e-mail address fields
  4. Click the Save button

Changing Profile Information

  1. From the Options tab, click the Change Profile Information link
  2. In the various fields, modify the information as needed; available fields include
    • First and Last Name
    • Primary Role/Position Title
    • Subject Area of your research or major
    • Bibliographic Software Use (for a desktop software only)
    • Opt in/Opt out options for email notifications
  3. Click the Save button

Changing the Default Language

  1. From the Options tab, click the Language link
  2. Select the language intended to be the default [currently supported: English, Chinese, Japanese, and German (Deutsch)]
  3. Click the Save button


Account Information

When you register for an EndNote Online account, two different accounts will be associated with your registration.

  • EndNote X5: based on the most current version of Endote Desktop (unless you have an older version installed on your computer).
  • Web of Knowledge: This is linked to Milner Library's subscription of Web of Knowledge (also known as Web of Science).
  • Status: Based on the last time you logged into your account. Inactive means your account expired since the last time you logged in.
  • Days Remaining & Expiration Date: Based on your registration date.
  • To Reactivate: If you account has expired, you can reactivate it through the Web of Knowledge database. You will need to do this from a campus computer.
