A quick guide on using the Mendeley source manager.

Transferring Sources from EndNote Basic and Other Platforms

  1. Log into your EndNote Basic account
  2. Click the Format link in the top toolbar
  3. Click Export References link on the sub-menu
  4. Select the Export options on the next page
    1. Click the group from the References drop down menu
    2. Choose Refman (RIS) Export in the Export Style drop down menu
    3. Click the Save button
      • Note: This does not download or export any attached pdfs
      • Note: Once downloaded, you can rename the default exportlist.txt file to reflect the group name within EndNote Basic
  5. Within your Mendeley Web Library, click the Add button
    Note: RIS files are only imported into the All Documents folder
  6. Click the Add button
  7. Select From RIS (.ris)
  8. Navigate to the location of the file and click the Open button

Note

  • You will need to drag and drop your source records into folders if you want to organize them.
  • You can also drag and drop the RIS file into your web library
  • If you have PDF files, you can just drag and drop them into your Mendeley library
  1. Open Zotero
  2. Select Export Library... from the File menu
    OR
    Right click a collection and choose Export Collection...
  3. In the Export popup window, select the Export options 
    1. Choose RIS from the drop down menu
    2. Check which Translator Options you want
      Note: choosing Export Files will export any pdf documents but these will not be added as attachments to the Mendeley record
    3. If needed, change the Character Encoding setting (not typical)
    4. Click the OK button
  4. Navigate to where you want the file to be exported to
  5. Give the document a filename
  6. Click the Save button
    Depending on the size of your Library, this may take a few minutes
  7. Within your Mendeley Web Library, click the Add button
    Note: RIS files are only imported into the All Documents folder
  8. Select From RIS (.ris)
  9. Navigate to the location of the file and click the Open button

Note

  • You will need to drag and drop your source records into folders if you want to organize them.
