This is an overlaid image of a 10 µm diameter Pt electrode recorded with a dual probe. One probe records pH and the other measures the rate of reaction at the Pt electrode. The images are offset in the xy plane because the two imaging probes are offset; the image effectively is a “picture” of the dual probe that is doing the imaging.

This image is a scanning electron microscope (SEM) image of starch microparticles embedded on some kind of substrate. The colors are false, as SEM only produces black and white images.
