Searching the Online Catalog
To search for books on your topic, go to the Milner Library website.
The Milner Catalog is the first tab available on the main search box.
The Milner Catalog offers searching by Keyword, Title, Author/Creator or ISBN.
If you are working from a bibliography, use the Advanced Search and select the Title or Author option, or use both.
To find books on a specific topic, use the Advanced Search, and select Subject option.

To expand your search to other Illinois libraries, check the box beside "Include I-Share Libraries".
To request that books be retrieved for you from the regular shelves, from Closed Stacks, North Storage, or from another I-Share library, sign in using the Central Login with your ISU ULID and password.

To limit your search to Ebooks, scroll down the list of results.
On the right side under "Tweak Your Results - Availability, click on "Available Online",
To find books on a specific topic, use the Advanced Search, and select the Subject option.
Also search by subject for specific cities, such as Chicago or St. Louis
To locate primary sources, add terms such as Sources, Correspondence, Diaries, Personal narratives, Oral history, or Interviews to your subject search.
To search for books and other materials in libraries worldwide, use WorldCat.
Some books, especially works out of copyright, may be available as electronic full text books in Google Books or other digital repositories such as Internet Archive, or Hathitrust.
