EBSCO (including Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, and ERIC).
Connect to any of EBSCOhost databases. Click on Sign In (located in the upper bar). There you may either login with username and password or select Create a new Account. For detailed instructions on how to setup journal alerts and Search history alerts select Help in the upper right hand corner of the page and choose directions for Saving Searches and Alerts (you will need to scroll down in order to see this option).   Sometimes features are controlled locally and may appear a little differently than they do in the instructions under Help. For example, the link to the list of Publications is now located as part of the bar that runs across the top of the screen.  

OVID (including PsycINFO) After connecting to an OVID database, click on My Account.  At this point, you can either sign in or create a new account.  Click on Help and scroll down until you see Saving Searches and Alerts.  Follow the directions provided here.

ProQuest (including Dissertations and Theses)
After connecting to Dissertations and Theses, you can find information about setting up alerts by clicking on Help (upper right hand corner).
Run the desired search from either the Basic or the Advanced page.  On the Results page, click Set Up Alert.  You will see the Set up Your Search Alert page.  Complete the required information and click Create Alert. On the following screen, you will see the message Confirmation required

Alerting Services

Several of the electronic resources Milner subscribes to offer alerting services.

Three different types of alert services are:

  • Table of contents alerts
Table of contents alerts are updates of the table of contents of the most current issues of the journals you specify while signing up.
  • Daily/weekly alerts
Daily/weekly  alerts notify subscribers of articles matching submitted topics. Alert frequencies vary depending on the publisher's database updates.
  • Saved search alerts
Saved search alerts are notifications of recent articles matching previously submitted searches.

Please note:
In order to sign up for an alert service, you will need to set up an account with the vendor.
