To find monograph books on your specific topic using the Milner Library Catalog:
- Go to the Start Your Research search box on the library's home page and choose the Advanced Search link.
- On the advanced search page, change Search for to Library Catalog to search only items available at Milner Library.
- Enter your keywords for your topic.In this example, I'm looking for books about Renaissance composer William Byrd, You can add composer as a keyword when searching for a composer's name to narrow out results about other people with the same name.
- Change Material Type to Books.
- Choose Search.
- Choose the title of a book to find out more information.
- Scroll down to the details section and check to see if the individual chapters list authors. If there is only one or a few authors or editors for the whole book and no individual authors for each chapter, the book is a monograph.
- If the page for a book shows "Available at Milner Library [Floor x call number]," this means the book is a print book. If the print book is available, note the floor location and call number and use them to find the book on the shelves.
- If the page for a book shows "View Online," scroll down to the View Online section and choose the link under Full text availability. This will prompt you to login to view the full text of the ebook. Choose Milner Library at Illinois State University and login with your ULID and password.
