This guide was created by Milner Library's IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) Committee to help the Illinois State University community access resources which address difficult and often sensitive topics. While librarians will never share your personal information, we understand that sometimes it's easier to find help yourself than to ask for it. This guide is designed to help you locate information on topics that may be difficult to talk about such as mental health, poverty, STDs, abuse, and many others.
The IDEA Committee has done its best to curate resources that are useful and address a broad range of topics, but it is impossible for this guide to be comprehensive. The collections at Milner Library are primarily academic, so many books and resources come from a research perspective. These may be useful to some, but we have also included web resources, campus resources, and community resources to supplement what the library can offer on-site.
If you need immediate help, please call 9-1-1 to be connected with local emergency services.
