Milner Library cannot purchase all textbooks used in all courses offered at ISU. However, some textbooks may be in the Library's collection and available to you. Or, a print copy of a textbook may be available to request from another library.
Books that are not available through I-Share and are not obviously textbook titles may be requested through Interlibrary Loan. interlibrary loan requests for books with titles that are clearly identifiable as textbooks e.g. Introduction to Psychology, cannot be filled for several reasons:
Books received through interlibrary loan have a short loan period and lending libraries often do not allow renewals.
Unlike I-Share, interlibrary loan only shows library staff if a library owns a book and not whether the book can circulate to other libraries.
interlibrary loan requests to borrow books may take several weeks for other libraries to process and may end in cancelation of a request. (Before cancelling a request, Interlibrary Loan staff check Barnes & Noble and Amazon textbooks to verify if a book is a textbook. When canceling an interlibrary loan request, they also check I-Share, and will inform you in the cancelation email if a book is requestable via I-Share.)
If a book title is not obviously a textbook, an interlibrary loan request is worth a try.
