Communication: Finding Books / eBooks

A guide to library resources for Communication majors, graduate students and faculty.

eBooks

There are three ways to read ebooks:

  1. Read in your browser.
  2. Download to your laptop or tablet.
  3. Print one or more pages.

If you are on campus, you will be automatically logged in for access.  When you are off campus, you will be prompted to login using your ULID username and password before the eBook is displayed.

The steps to download or print an ebook are dependent on the publisher's website.  Consult our eBook Guide for specific information about each format.

Books Specific to Communications

Look at our Understanding Call Numbers guide for more information.

Search Milner's Catalog for books about a topic or subject or search for books by author or title.

The Classic Search, an alternative interface for searching Milner's Catalog, is available here. Classic Search allows searching by call number.

If Milner does not own a book, search All I-Share Libraries for the book title and request the book from one of the 90 other I-Share Libraries in Illinois.

Note: Your Milner/I-Share account no longer requires account creation. Login with your ULID and password.

Communication is a relatively new academic discipline. Therefore no single letter or call number in the Library of Congress Classification System represents all topics in the field of Communication.

Various types and aspects of communication are located throughout Milner Library's collection. The largest collection of general communication titles is on the 6th floor in the P87-96 call number range.

Following is a list of most communication related call number areas. This list may be especially useful for browsing.
