Accessing articles

Look for clues on the source's information page (record) such as: abstract; subject headings; journal title - all can point to primary subject matter
Check the date. Is this outdated relative to the topic? Has anything been written more recently?
If unsure about the author, run a quick Google search to learn more about them
When reading, start with the introduction and conclusion to further determine usefulness
If a source doesn't fit your topic you don't have to use it
