Use it for: 

• Known item searching​

  • Ex: I have a full citation and know this thing exists but don’t know where I might find the full text​

• Partial citation searching​

  • I have part of a citation and need to find the rest​

• Grey literature searching​

Grey literature is material published outside of traditional academic pipelines such as government research, white papers, or reports​

Don't use it for: 

• General database searching​

• Entry level searching​

• A catch-all search​

• Google Scholar is  usually too broad for these kinds of searches and lacks the same kind of curation and limiters that library databases have​
