The All I-Share Libraries search lets you search the catalogs of the 90+ academic libraries throughout Illinois that share items.

  • If Milner Library does not have the book you need, try checking to see if an I-Share library has it.
  • Using the search box under Start Your Research on the library's home page or the advanced search, change Everything to All I-Share Libraries to search the I-Share Libraries Catalog.
  • You can request I-Share books for free online through the catalog, and they take about 3-5 days to come to Milner Library for you to pick up.
  • There is a help video showing how to search for and request a book in I-Share.

Once you find some books that look helpful, the next step is to record what floor those books are on and their call numbers to help you find the books on the shelves at the library.

The Understanding Call Numbers guide explains what a call number is and how to use it to find books on the shelves at the library. It includes a help video that shows how to use a call number to find a book on the shelves.

Many books that you may find in the catalog may be in these call number ranges for music therapy:

  • ML 3920 - Music Therapy
  • ML 3830-3838 - Psychology of Music
  • MT 17 - Music in special education

You may also find books from overlapping subject areas including:

  • Education – Floor 6, LB
  • Health Science & Nursing: Floor 5, Q and R
  • Psychology – Floor 3, BF

If both Milner Library and the I-Share libraries do not have access to a book you need, you can try requesting the book via interlibrary loan (ILL):

  • Interlibrary is a free service where you can fill out a form with the information for your item, and Interlibrary Loan staff will check to see if they can get the book from another library.
  • The easiest way to request a book through interlibrary loan is through the Find It page for your book because it will auto-fill out a request form with the information for your item so all you need to do is choose your Department/Major and submit the request!
    • To get a Find It page for your book, search for the title and author in WorldCat. WorldCat searches libraries throughout the world.
    • On the WorldCat page for your book, choose the Find It button.
