Content Area Exam Status

During a public health emergency, the content test is still a requirement; however, during the public health emergency, it is a requirement for issuance of the PEL Teaching Endorsement rather than for entry to student teaching.

Due to the Governor's extension of the emergency order until July 24, 2021, appropriate content tests will now be required PRIOR to student teaching beginning in fall 2022.

Content Area Exam Materials

Mometrix

Mometrix eLibrary is a database that helps preservice teachers prepare for content exams. It contains ILTS (Illinois Licensure Testing System) test preparation materials for all content areas. Click on the Teaching box at the lower right, and then type in ILTS to see the list of Illinois Licensure Testing Service exams. Not all ILTS exams are in Mometrix, as the State of Illinois is in a transitional phase for moving some exams over to the ILTS system. Mometrix does not develop content for every content exam (only those with the most demand. See below for additional information.
