EndNote Basic

EndNote Basic is a web-based program that allows you to organize your sources (articles, books, images, etc.), cite the sources while you write a paper, and prepare bibliographies.

Browser Capture Tool - Adding Sources

To capture a source that is not part of a database, use the Reference Capture button.

  1. If you have not already done do, add the Reference Capture button to your browser.
    1. Log into EndNote Basic
    2. Click the Downloads tab
    3. On the Downloads page, drag the Capture Reference button to your Bookmarks toolbar (also known as Favorites).
      You may need to right-click and select Add to Favorites or Bookmark This Link.
  2. When viewing a web page or database record, click the Capture button.
  3. If not logged in, you will be prompted to log into EndNote Basic.
  4. A Capture New Reference window will open.
  5. Finish filling out the form (as needed) such as selecting source type and a group.
  6. Click the Save to button.
    Make sure my.endnote.com is selected
