Reading eBooks
There are three ways to read eBooks:
- Read in your browser
- Download to your laptop or tablet
- Print one or more pages
In most instances, you will be prompted to log in via Central Login before the eBook is displayed, whether or not you are on or off campus.
The steps to download or print an eBook are dependent on the publisher's website. Consult our eBook Guide for specific information about each format.

Ask a Milner Librarian
Springfield I-Share Libraries
You can request to have books sent from any I-Share library and also get picked up at any I-Share library! You will just need to bring your Redbird card to check out materials. The following libraries in the Springfield area are recommended for these pick-ups:
- Illinois State Library
- Enter from Monroe Street, circulation desk is on the second floor
- Lincoln Land Community College
- Southern Illinois University School of Medicine
- Enter at the north-facing entrance of 801 N. Rutledge, take the elevator to floor 4.
- University of Illinois Springfield
- Suggested parking lots: B or C
