This page covers three ways to create bibliographies or a reference list
Add a Bibliography in a Word Document
You need to have at least one in-text citation added to your document that is linked to your Zotero Library.
- Place your cursor where you want the bibliography to be inserted
- We recommend, first, creating a new page blank page at the end of your document
If you are using the Grad School's template, place your cursor on the page designated for References / Works Cited
- In the Zotero tab, click the Add/Edit Bibliography button
- The bibliography will be automatically inserted in the correct style format
Annotated Bibliographies
To create an annotated bibliography, you need to select a style designated as for that purpose. Currently, Zotero has two styles with that capability: APA 7 and Chicago 17 notes. First you need to add the style to your default list of styles and then create the annotated bibliography.
Step 1: Add the Style
- Open the Zotero desktop app
- From the Edit menu, click Preferences
- Click the Get additional styles... link
- In the Style Repository window, search annot
- Click the style you want to use
- Click the OK button
Step 2: Create the Bibliography
- Right click over the collection/folder you want to use to create the bibliography
- Click the Create Bibliography From Collection... option in the popup menu
- In the popup window, select the Annotated Style, Output Mode, and Output Method
- Click the OK button
- Depending on your Output Method, follow the prompts to save or print
- If you chose Copy to Clipboard, open a blank document and paste the content into it
