Who to Contact

Here are some resources you can use to get to know your colleagues and learn who to contact for different questions that arise at the desk.

Who to Call
The WHO TO CALL list is a list of people to contact for different types of questions during weekday, weekend and evening desk shifts.  You can view it on the Research Services Team in Milner Library Shared Documents > Important Documents.

Milner Faculty/Staff Phone List
The Milner Faculty/Staff Phone List is a phone number directory with all faculty and staff phone numbers in alphabetical order on one side and department phone numbers on the reverse side.  You should receive the current version when you start, and you will find updated versions in your mailbox.  You can also get updated phone lists from the table near the door in the staff lounge.

Milner Emergency Phone Tree

The Milner Emergency Phone Tree provides emergency contact information for each department of the library.

We're Here to Help contact lists
The We're Here to Help sheets are now a combined double sided ivory sheet that includes Administration & Department Contacts, Subject Librarians by Name, and Subject Librarians by Subject Area.

These can be found in ivory pads at the Floor 2 reference desk, as well as on the Research Services intranet page and in the Research Services Teams folder in Reference Desk Training Materials.

Staff Photo Directory
There is an update-to-date Milner photo directory posted on the staff bulletin board just inside the back staff entrance to the library.

Contacting Ryan Peters

Ryan Peters prefers that you contact his cell phone for immediate assistance, 7-212-3605.  If Ryan doesn't answer his cell phone, he isn't in the building.  Call Ryan for immediate assistance when:

  • A patron needs more help than you can provide with a microform machine.
  • Any of those machines have broken down.
  • You have IRMA questions which are time-sensitive

In the event that you need to report a facilities issue, such as problems with lighting, heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, restrooms, sinks, toilets, urinals, cleaning, trash/recycling removal, or either of the elevators:

  • Daytime emergency (requiring immediate attention): Call Ryan's cell at 212-3605.
    • If Ryan cannot be reached, contact the Circulation Desk at 8-7321.
  • Night & weekend emergencies: Contact the Circulation Desk at 8-7321.
  • Non-emergency facilities issues: Contact Ryan at rjpete2@ilstu.edu (preferred) or at 8-2865.
  • The Circulation Desk should only field calls for facilities issues which require immediate attention, such as:
    • Blood & bodily fluids
    • Elevator out of order
    • Electrical outages (large banks of lights out, etc.)
    • Plumbing disasters (toilets or sinks overflowing)

If you need to contact Ryan for something that isn't listed under immediate assistance, he asks that you call his desk phone (8-2865) or email (rjpete2@ilstu.edu).

Printer, scanner, and copier related issues should always be addressed to the HELP DESK (8-8399).
